πŸ“‹ Tender Overview

The Ministry of Transport wants to invest a record 183.1 billion crowns in the construction of new highway sections important bypasses railway modernization and waterway development next year through the State Transport Infrastructure Fund (SFDI). It is 13.8 billion crowns more than in the approved budget of the fund for 2026. This is taken into account in the draft budget of the SFDI for 2027 which was approved today by the SFDI Committee and taken into account by the Supervisory Board of the fund.

At the same time the proposal ensures the financing of transport infrastructure modifications related to the construction of a new nuclear power plant in Dukovany specific contributions to regional governments for the implementation of key road constructions as well as funds for cities and municipalities for selected projects that increase road safety.

We will submit a draft budget for transport construction to the government which is in line with the goals of the governments program statement and will ensure the continuation of the completion of the backbone highway network and key railway projects. According to the proposal all our main investors the Directorate of Roads and Highways the Railway Administration and the Directorate of Waterways should operate with higher budgets than this year. We will invest in priority buildings with the greatest benefit for citizens and the Czech economy. At the same time we will continue to save through optimization of costs. Its not just about how much money we invest in transport but also what we can build for it emphasizes Transport Minister Ivan Bednarik and adds: This years increase in national resources to the budget is a consequence of the end of the current program period of European funds. It is important however to continue preparing projects in order to have the best possible starting position in relation to other countries when obtaining funds from European funds after 2028. it took its revenge in the following years.

The SFDI budget for 2027 is designed to be significantly pro-investment. Investment expenditures are to reach 127 billion crowns which is 7.5 billion crowns more than the approved SFDI budget for 2026. Non-investment expenditures amounting to 56.1 billion crowns are primarily intended for repairs maintenance and operation of transport infrastructure including operational activities of investor organizations.

This is a record budget proposal for transport infrastructure with which we build on the growing volume of investments from previous years. National resources within the proposal amount to 164.3 billion crowns at the same time we expect the involvement of European funds in the total amount of 18.8 billion crowns especially from the program Transport Tools for Connecting Europe the so-called CEF and the Modernization Fund says the director of the State Fund for Transport Infrastructure Zbynek Horelica.

Of the total amount 87 billion crowns are earmarked for the Directorate of Roads and Highways and 77.6 billion crowns for the Railway Administration. The funds are intended for financing investment and non-investment actions.

If the draft budget is approved in this form the Directorate of Roads and Highways should have enough funds next year so that we can continue to fulfill our main goal which is the completion of the backbone highway network. For example we want to start the construction of additional sections of the D52 highway before and after the Novomlyn reservoirs or a new section of the D55 highway between Napajedly and Babice the CEO lists the most important investment actions planned for next year Directorate of Roads and Highways Radek Matl.

A total of 243.7 kilometers of highways and Class I roads are currently under construction. An overview of buildings can be found in the interactive map of the RSD.

The proposed record budget will allow the Railway Administration to start other constructions with a clear benefit for passengers and carriers. In 2027 we will be able to start modernizing among other things two important lines in Moravia or the section between Hradec Kralove and Tyniste nad Orlici which is an alternative to the main corridor. They will bring faster travel higher capacity and more reliable operation. These are the criteria we are guided by when selecting projects. At the same time thanks to the proposed budget we will maintain the pace constructions in progress such as the longest stage connecting Prague - Airport - Kladno or the new 200 km/h line between Brno and Prerov. It is also important that the proposal includes sufficient funds for the necessary repairs and maintenance of the entire railway network adds Tomas Toth general director of the Railway Administration.

Now the SFDI budget proposal will go to the Government of the Czech Republic for discussion and approval and then for approval by the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic.
