Chile Naval Operations Tender

📄 Tender ID: 496984962 📅 Published: 15 Nov 2023

📋 Tender Overview

On Friday, November 3, the Commander in Chief of the Navy, Admiral Juan Andrés De La Maza, together with the Undersecretary of Defense Ricardo Montero and the Commander of Naval Operations, Vice Admiral José Luis Fernández, members of the High Command, former Commanders of Naval Operations and Commanders of Dependent commanders participated in the inauguration ceremony of the new COMOPER building.

After 3 years of laying the first stone, today its endowment has a modern building composed of a three-level structure that at its core includes a modern and linked Command post, which allows it to plan and conduct operations, in a protected and self-sufficient environment ensuring its survival in the face of natural disasters and allowing safe action in the event of conflict.

For his part, the Commander in Chief of the Navy said that “the new Operations Command units integrate an ecological and modern functional building, with a MOC (Maritime Operation Center) of the highest standard like those we have seen many times with envy in first world marinas.”

He continued explaining that "from here we will be able to direct operations, whether in times of peace, in times of crisis, in times of catastrophe, that is, in everything that the Institution and the State require of us, we will be able to here, develop and conduct those operations.”

Vice Admiral Fernández expressed his great satisfaction at being able to inaugurate this new building given that due to the pandemic it was not without complications and challenges. “Today a process ended that lasted perhaps a little longer than expected. I feel privileged and very proud to be the Commander of Naval Operations during the year 2023 and to have had the opportunity to materialize the change of dependencies and reach a successful conclusion today.” he emphasized.

He concluded his words by addressing the first crew, highlighting that “in front of us is this new building with its rooms, its Command Center, its technological equipment, but finally the brain, the heart, is placed by us. The first team has the great responsibility of leaving the mark, according to our traditions and principles as we have always done.”

It is worth mentioning that among the characteristics of this new building, it stands out for being classified as a “Featured Sustainable Building” given that it has environmentally friendly technologies and systems such as thermal envelopes to reduce energy demand, controlled air conditioning, windows with thermal and acoustic insulation, high-performance lighting and low energy consumption, hot water heating through solar panels and gray water treatment for the reuse of this scarce element.

In this way, the “National Green Growth Strategy” is oriented towards the adoption of efficiency measures for the protection of the environment by State organizations and the “Navy Climate Change Action Plan” that self-imposed commitment to contribute to sustainable development, implementing non-conventional renewable energies and energy efficiency to preserve the environment in which our Institution operates.
