This morning a Metro Security Plan was presented to reinforce and improve the service of the entire network an instance attended by the Minister of Transport and Telecommunications Juan Carlos Muoz the president of Metro Guillermo Muoz the general manager of Metro Felipe Bravo the Undersecretary of the Interior Manuel Monsalve the Presidential Delegate Constanza Martnes and Carabineros.Some of the measures that are part of this plan to be developed in 2023 consist of the creation of anti-graffiti brigades anti-evasion barriers implementation of tactical guards among other details.The main dimensions that these actions seek to avoid are attacks on staff crimes street trade and evasions.As reported by the authorities the Safety Plan for Metro 2023 is based on 5 fundamental pillars that we will detail below.Tactical guards to prevent evasion and control street tradeThe first pillar considered for this action plan in the Metro is that of security overhang.The security takeover in the metro will be carried out through the implementation of tactical guards greater presence of Carabineros and Metro teams in 6 stations adding to the critical points detected in 2022.The critical stations where these measures will be focused areHigh BridgeTobalabaLime and SongSan Alberto HurtadoThe HeroesBellavista La FloridaUniversity of ChileSanta AnaVicua MackennaVicente ValdesThe CisternMain SquareULACentral StationThe CisternThe tactical guards will have as their main focus Central Station and La Cisterna where they will address evasion and contribute to the control of street trade.This group of tactical guards will be equipped with personal protection items such as helmet body protectors camera retractable baton safety handcuffs and bulletproof vest.It is important to note that the tactical guards will have ongoing OS-10 training and specialized training in the control of incivilities such asAccess control techniquesConflict ManagementAttention of publicCrisis ManagementFacility protectionPatrol and patrol proceduresIn addition it will work in coordination with Carabineros PDI SII and customs to support police work prevent illegal trade request identification and inspect merchandise with unknown origin.Investment in infrastructure to discourage evasionAny modifications or infrastructure solutions will be studied to help prevent evasion in the metro.Some of the measures that will be evaluated are the implementation of anti-evasion doors vandal barriers and improvements in turnstiles.Anti-graffiti brigades and zero tolerance to scratchesThe actions to improve the safety of the Metro in 2023 consider the development of the Zero Tolerance Plan for Scratches and Stickers in order to improve the care and cleanliness of Metro spaces in order to increase the feeling of security.HowThe strategy to avoid scratches and stickers in the Metro considersThe work of one person per shift AM and PM with exclusive dedication to scratch cleaning.Crew of 6 cleaners per line to carry out special work at stations where necessary.Artistic interventions in accesses of some stations of the network to use spaces used for striping.6 new stations included in the Mercado a un Metro program in order to use spaces vulnerable to scratches and illegal trade.Increase in transport supply and changes in the Express RouteThe Metro 2023 Safety Plan also considers the increase in the supply of transport to its maximum capacity from March together with modifications of the Express Route on Line 5 and the implementation of the digital voucher as proof of load.The changes of the Express Route of Line 5 areSan Joaqun goes from Ruta Roja to common station because it is the fourth station with the most affluence of Line 5 with 20 thousand passengers per working day.Rodrigo de Araya went from Ruta Verde to Ruta Roja.Agricultural Road went from Green Route to Red Route.Carlos Valdovinos went from Red Route to Green RouteImplementation of the digital voucher in the MetroThe use of the digital voucher as proof of charge in replacement of paper will be implemented from March 14 throughout the network.This measure aims to contribute to the sustainable use of resources and the environment.
