Chile Funds First Tender

With the new Startup Ciencia funding program Chile wants to strengthen research and technology-based entrepreneurship by co-financing and supporting the process of setting up a company.The Ministry of Science Technology Knowledge and Innovation and the Association for Economic Development Corfo announced on October 22nd the projects that will be funded by Startup Ciencia as part of the first call for tenders . From the round of tenders which opened in May and closed in July 13 projects were selected each with up to CLP 220 million around EUR 245000 in funding. They should apply solutions in the fields of artificial intelligence 5 medical devices 3 robotics 2 advanced manufacturing 1 medical process technology 1 and biotechnology 1.The selected projects are additionally supported by workshops mentors and experts. In addition to financing the individual projects Startup Ciencia aims to strengthen science and technology-based entrepreneurship in the country thereby broadening the entrepreneurial science base and promoting a knowledge-based economy.
