The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Javier Martinez-Acha Vasquez, positioned Panama this Tuesday in London as the Hub of Hubs, during a round table at Canning House, highlighting its role as a strategic partner in logistics, connectivity and security for global investment.
That meeting, as part of his official visit to the United Kingdom, strengthened Panamanian commercial diplomacy by highlighting institutional stability and exploring new air routes and railway projects.
The exchange held at Canning House represented much more than a round table. It was a high-level strategic platform where Panama managed to project itself with clarity, confidence and a vision of the future to some of the most influential actors in the political, business and academic ecosystem of the United Kingdom.
Founded in 1943, Canning House is the main British forum dedicated to promoting political, economic and cultural relations between the United Kingdom and Latin America.
Chancellor Martinez-Acha Vasquez was received by Jeremy Browne, CEO of Canning House. In his presentation under the theme Panama: Hub of the Hubs-Leading in a Globalized World, the head of Panamanian diplomacy positioned the country as a global logistics node and a reliable strategic partner in an increasingly complex international environment.
Minister Martinez-Acha Vasquez presented Panama as a comprehensive hub in logistics, financial, technological and global connectivity aspects, with a unique value proposition in the hemisphere.
He referred to legal security, the neutrality of the Canal and unrestricted respect for international law. Regarding infrastructure projects, he listed the construction of the Panama-Paso Canoas railway, new ports and energy diversification. He also highlighted the position of Panama, a country established in times of uncertainty, that understands global risks, such as migration, logistical disruptions and geopolitical tensions, and that acts responsibly.
The response from the attendees, including diplomats, investors, business leaders and strategists, was interest in analyzing investment possibilities in strategic sectors such as green energy, technology and advanced logistics. They expressed their willingness to deepen commercial ties, in addition to cooperation in security, innovation and sustainability.
They recognized the geopolitical value of Panama as a bridge between regions and facilitator of global trade, aligned with British values such as the rule of law, transparency, stability and economic openness.
According to the participants, the tone of the meeting was developed through frank, modern and solution-oriented dialogue. Panama did not present itself as a country that seeks attention, but as one that offers concrete and reliable opportunities.
The session at Canning House concludes that the relationship between Panama and the United Kingdom is underexploited, but ready to take off. The existence of a natural convergence between the British global vocation, especially in its post-Brexit projection, and Panamas role as a hemispheric platform and global logistics node was demonstrated.
They concluded that there is a clear potential to turn Panama into a natural hub for British investment in Latin America, strengthen supply chains with British participation, promote joint projects in infrastructure, energy, technology and elevate the bilateral relationship to a more strategic, structured and visible level.
In short, the meeting at Canning House was more than an exchange of ideas, it was a diplomatic turning point, where Panama consolidated its strategic position, generated trust and opened a door towards a deeper, modern and mutually beneficial partnership with the United Kingdom.
