πŸ“‹ Tender Overview

* In Toronto, Canada, Minister Gerardo Lopez highlighted Peru as a reliable destination for mining investment, supported by macroeconomic stability, geological potential, competitive energy costs and a regulatory framework that promotes competitiveness and sustainable development of the sector.
* The head of the MEF highlighted the work of the Specialized Investment Monitoring Team (EESI), which supports the monitoring and unblocking of large-scale projects for the country, including projects in the mining sector.

Within the framework of the PDAC 2026 Annual Mining Convention, the Minister of Economy and Finance, Gerardo Lopez, participated in Peru Day, in the block Peru: Country Promoter of Mining Investment, where he presented to mining companies and financial institutions the Governments vision to consolidate the country as an attractive destination for investment, with macroeconomic stability, clear rules and an active agenda to accelerate projects.

During his presentation, the head of the MEF highlighted that Peru has a portfolio of 65 mining projects for US$63 billion, reflecting the countrys potential to promote new investments and expand productive capacities, in an international context that demands strategic minerals linked to the energy transition.

Along these lines, he stressed that Peru occupies a strategic position as a supplier of traditional minerals and critical minerals, which--together with its geological potential and macroeconomic solidity--allows the country to be among the first places in the region and in the world. He highlighted that Peru is among the top 10 in production or reserves of silver, copper, zinc, lead, tin, molybdenum and gold, consolidating a diversified mining offer ready to be put into value.

In front of the main global players in the sector, Minister Lopez also highlighted the importance of strengthening an environment that combines competitiveness, sustainability and citizen well-being, underlining the role of private investment to generate growth, employment and greater opportunities in the regions. In that sense, he pointed out that Peru is a mining country, with high potential to explore and carry out new projects, and that these international spaces allow us to consolidate trust and promote investment decisions.

As part of the elements of competitiveness, the head of the MEF highlighted a key advantage for investments: the cost of electricity in industrial processes. He pointed out that the regional average is around US$ 0.147 per kWh, while Peru registers approximately US$ 0.107 per kWh, which increases profitability and contributes to making mining projects viable.

Regarding the impact on the economy, Minister Gerardo Lopez explained the multiplier effects of mining and pointed out that for every US$ 1 million invested in the sector, approximately US$ 1.8 million are generated in total production, boosting value chains such as manufacturing, construction, services, commerce and other activities. He added that these benefits become especially tangible in the areas of influence, to the extent that the population identifies concrete advantages and productive chains are strengthened.

He also highlighted the sectors export performance. He indicated that mining maintains a growing trend and that, at the end of 2025, mining exports reached US$59 billion, with visible increases in minerals such as copper, gold, lead and zinc, in a context of favorable prices and positive prospects for the international market.

As part of the Governments agenda to accelerate projects, Minister Lopez highlighted the work of the Specialized Investment Monitoring Team (EESI), a strategic initiative of the MEF that provides support and monitoring of permits and critical milestones to facilitate the execution of private and public investments. The EESI monitors and unblocks a portfolio of 51 prioritized projects, whose investment in 2026 is estimated at US$ 4,000 million, including 17 mining projects for a projected investment of US$ 2,471 million, with the aim of expediting their development and helping investments advance with greater predictability.

Balance of meetings at PDAC
Within the framework of his agenda in Toronto, Minister Gerardo Lopez held a set of bilateral and working meetings with companies and investors in the sector - including financial entities and mining companies with a presence in the country - to exchange perspectives, collect investment signals and strengthen institutional relationships aimed at accelerating strategic projects. These meetings complemented Perus participation in Peru Day as a showcase to consolidate trust and promote new investments.

The MEF thus reaffirms its commitment to continue promoting a favorable environment for investment, promoting sustainable growth and regional development, withmodern mining that contributes to the countrys competitiveness and the well-being of the population.
