On July 21 2021 the International Organization for Migration IOM donated equipment to the Commissariat Gnrale des Migration CGM of the Government of Burundi with the aim of strengthening its capacity to manage cross-border movements in the public health emergency context in the face of potentially epidemic diseases such as COVID-19.This donation includes the rehabilitation of the electrical system of the Mugina border post and the infrastructure of the Rumandari Kanyaru Haut Gasenyi 1 Gisuru and Rumonge border posts. It also includes computer equipment 11 computers 4 printers and office equipment 19 cabinets 38 chairs and 38 tables and 23 motorcycles.With the new equipment staff operating at targeted entry points will be able to provide better services to migrants. Indeed they will have increased capacities to manage population flows while ensuring the surveillance detection notification and management of cases of COVID-19 or other disease with epidemic potential. With this donation we wish to emphasize the fact that the constraints linked to COVID-19 must not compromise the continuity of services offered to populations at risk including migrants whose fragility has been increased by this health crisis.
