There will be reservation of vacancies for shareholders students, according to.
The selection process is the first to be carried out by federal universities to enter one of the ten new campuses that MEC will open in all regions of the country by 2026, with a total investment of R 600 million from the new Growth Acceleration Program (Novo PAC).
Each new unit will receive an investment of R 60 million, being R 50 million for the construction of the definitive headquarters and R 10 million for the acquisition of equipment. According to MECs Secretary of Higher Education, Marcus Vinicius David, the initiative reinforces the Federal Governments plan for the expansion and internalization of federal higher education, expanding access to a free and quality public education to those who need it most.
This expansion reflects MECs commitment to public education, ensuring more investments and inclusion for students from all over Brazil. The new UFG campus consolidates the democratization of higher education in the country, bringing opportunities to a strategic region, which has always faced the shortage of vacancies in federal universities, says the secretary.
Western City - The Campus in Western City (GO), a municipality around the Federal District, is expected to bid in April 2025. While the construction of the definitive headquarters is underway, the courses will operate in a building provided by the city hall. It is expected that classes start still in the second half of 2025.
Six courses will be offered: Public Administration; Software Engineering; Security Sciences; Digital Health Management; Artificial intelligence for public policies; and cyber security engineering. Some of these graduations are unprecedented at federal universities and were defined based on the demand of the region and the needs of the labor market.
For the chairman of the UFG Western City Campus Implementation Commission, former Rector and Professor Orlando Afonso Valle do Amaral, there is a very large demand, given the innovative character of the courses that will be offered, as well as the employability potential.
