In particular it is established that the identification and normalization of the names of geographical objects will be carried out whenperformance of geodetic and cartographic worksmaintenance of the State catalog of names of geographical objects of the Republic of Belarusnaming geographical objects and renaming themconducting special research in the field of names of geographical objectscarrying out other activities in the field of names of geographical objects.As the goal of identifying the names of geographical objects the provision of state registration in the State Catalog of previously unaccounted names of existing or existing geographical objects was singled out.The names of state bodies other organizations individuals including individual entrepreneurs are identified.The list of information sources that are used to identify the names of geographical objects is being specified. They includelegal acts of the Head of State state bodies local Councils of Deputies state organizations adopted issued within their competence established by the Law of the Republic of Belarus On the Names of Geographical Objectsinformation resources formed for the purpose of recording and registering the relevant geographical objects the information about which contains the names of these geographical objectscartographic reference encyclopedic publications and other sources including those posted on the Internet taking into account the opinions of specialists in the field of names of geographical objects as well as citizens living in the relevant territory.It is also determined that the normalization of the names of geographical objects is carried out by the state enterprise Belgeodeziya. At the same time if necessary specialists from the Yakub Kolas Institute of Linguistics branch of the Center for Studies of Belarusian Culture Language and Literature of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus other specialists in the field of toponymy linguistics history and others are involved.The main provisions of the resolution come into force after its official publication.
