π Tender Overview
On February 2, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with a presentation on the ongoing work in the coal and uranium industry and plans for the near future.
The issues of increasing the volume of coal production, strengthening the competitive environment in the industry and effective use of existing reserves were discussed.
As noted, 10 million tons of coal mining is planned for the autumn-winter season of 2025-2026, which is 1.3 million tons more than last season. So far, 9 million tons of coal have been mined, an increase of 590,000 tons. The need to increase the production volume to 11 million tons in the next season was noted.
For this, it was emphasized that it is important to accelerate the development of mines located in Tashkent and Southern regions, to expand selective mining, and to attract additional excavators and equipment based on outsourcing. It is planned to produce an additional 2.5 million tons of coal in 2026 by expanding the participation of private entrepreneurs.
Special attention was paid to the development project of the Nishbosh coal mine in Angren. Within the framework of this investment project, the volume of reserves of which is 233 million tons and the value of which is estimated at about 500 million dollars, it is planned to start mining operations in 2026 and to produce 1 million tons of coal, and in the future to increase the annual capacity to 10 million tons. The project will create 880 permanent jobs.
The project focused on the production of new types of industrial products based on the deep processing of coal was also considered in the presentation. It is planned to organize production of polymer products through chemical processing of coal at the initiative of Uzkimyosanoat joint-stock company. The cost of the project is 5 billion dollars, as a result of which 8-9 million tons of coal processing and 1.18 million tons of polymer products production capacity will be built.
Last year, 7,000 tons of uranium were produced in our country, and the identified reserves reached 139,000 tons.
This year, it is planned to start development of Arnasoy, West Kyzylgok, South Jongeldi, East Agron mines.
In connection with the increase in the volume of raw material extraction, it was noted that it is necessary to increase the capacity of its processing.
Measures for stable supply of uranium processing facilities with sulfuric acid and technical sulfur necessary for its production have been determined.
The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan gave relevant assignments to the officials regarding timely and quality implementation of planned projects in the coal and uranium industry, increasing production volumes, and strengthening economic efficiency.
