During the meeting, Dr. Jaishankar congratulated the Kingdom of Bahrain on the success of the 21st IISS Manama Dialogue 2025 and on assuming the presidency of the upcoming GCC Summit to be held in Bahrain in December. He underscored Indias keenness to strengthen cooperation with the Kingdom of Bahrain.

He commended the tangible progress achieved in strengthening many areas of cooperation and noted that there remain important sectors that can be further explored and developed. He also expressed Indias appreciation for the care and support consistently extended to the Indian community residing in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

On his part, Dr. Al Zayani highlighted the strength of the historical relations between the two countries and their peoples, which extends for nearly five thousand years and is rooted in trade and cultural exchange between the ancient civilisations of Dilmun and the Indus Valley.

He said that economic relations constitute a cornerstone of the bilateral partnership, which has developed across multiple fields, reflecting both countries understanding that economic cooperation and interdependence among nations are key drivers of peace, stability, and shared prosperity.

The Minister expressed the Kingdom of Bahrains aspiration to enhance relations between India and the region, a goal that depends on achieving lasting and sustainable peace in the Middle East. He noted that Bahrains vision for the region is based on dialogue, coexistence, and mutual respect.

The Minister added that the recent adoption of the Gaza peace plan provides a unique opportunity to advance this vision, calling on all parties to exercise restraint, respect the ceasefire, and fully meet their obligations. He underscored that promoting regional peace is a key priority for the Kingdom of Bahrain during its forthcoming non-permanent membership of the United Nations Security Council.

The committee discussed the course of cooperation in the economic, trade, investment, and development sectors and ways to expand it to broader horizons. It also emphasised the importance of continuing to strengthen cooperation in the fields of security, health, culture, education, tourism, and space sciences, among other vital areas that contribute to serving the interests of the two countries and their peoples.

The meeting also reviewed efforts to enhance political and diplomatic cooperation between the two foreign ministries, emphasising the importance of maintaining mutual support in international forums and organisations, and of strengthening consultation and coordination throughout Bahrains 2026-2027 term as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council.

The two sides also discussed recent regional and international developments and their impact on regional peace and stability, including the Palestinian cause and the ongoing efforts to uphold the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, expedite the delivery of humanitarian and relief assistance to civilians, and advance efforts towards achieving a just and comprehensive peace in the region.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides agreed to hold the sixth session of the committee in the Kingdom of Bahrain next year.

A joint statement issued after the meeting emphasised the importance of high-level visits in adding new momentum to the long-standing bilateral relations between the two countries and reviewed the progress achieved in various areas of cooperation since the fourth session of the High Joint Commission held in Bahrain in December 2024.

Both sides welcomed the progress achieved in existing cooperation and joint initiatives in the fields of economy, trade, investment, finance, space, science and technology, health, and people-to-people relations.

The Bahraini delegation included Ambassador Abdulrahman Mohammed Al Gaoud, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Republic of India; Shaikh Hamad bin Salman Al Khalifa, Assistant Undersecretary for Domestic and Foreign Trade at the Ministry of Industry and Commerce; Nawaf Hashim Al Sada, Assistant Undersecretary for International Cooperation Affairs at the Ministry of Finance and National Economy; and Shaikh Abdullah bin Ali Al Khalifa, Director General of Bilateral Cooperation, along with representatives from the Bahrain Economic Development Board (Bahrain EDB), the General Secretariat of the Cabinet, the Ministry of Health, the Bahrain Space Agency, and the accompanying delegation.

The Indian delegation included Ambassador Vinod Kurian Jacob, Ambassador of the Republic of India to the Kingdom of Bahrain, as well as senior officials from the Ministry of External Affairs and representatives of the concerned authorities.
