π Tender Overview
Over 2,000 meters of renewed track infrastructure, 2,500 meters of new overhead lines, four new switches, hundreds of meters of renovated track substructure, 12 newly constructed signals and several kilometers of newly laid cables: This is the short summary of the summer construction site of the Vienna Local Railways in the Badner Bahn route area from Schedifkaplatz to Inzersdorf Lokalbahn.
The final work will be completed in time for the start of school. From September 7th, the Badner Bahn will be running again on the entire route from Vienna Opera to Baden Josefsplatz. This means that the important transport hub Meidling station is again connected to the Badner Bahn.
The ticket office at the Vienna Opera terminus, which was closed during the summer holidays, will also be open again from September 7th.
The renewal of our route infrastructure is one of our priorities so that the Badner Bahn can continue to operate safely, reliably and on time in the future. This summer construction site was an important stage in this. My thanks not only go to the team for the excellent planning and implementation. A thank you also goes to our passengers, who have shown a lot of understanding and patience for these necessary measures, explains Simone Schaller-Galler, Managing Director of Wiener Lokalbahnen, the operating company of the Badner Bahn. Wiener Lokalbahnen is part of the Wiener Stadtwerke Group, the largest infrastructure service provider in the greater Vienna area.
During the partial closure in the summer, a replacement service was available for passengers between Schedifkaplatz and Inzersdorf Lokalbahn. In addition, several Wiener Linien bus lines ensure a quick connection to the subway for onward travel towards the city center.
