In Germany, a nationwide strike by the German Locomotive Drivers' Union is planned from 02:00 on Wednesday, 24 January 2024 to 18:00 on Monday, 29 January 2024. For this reason, there are cancellations in cross-border traffic to/from Germany. Train traffic will also be severely affected within Germany.
Domestic train traffic between Salzburg and Tyrol via the Deutsches Eck is not expected to be affected by the restrictions.
Restrictions and changes in day and night traffic
The long-distance trains to Germany usually end at the border stations. Trains on the Brenner line can sometimes be routed to Munich. Travellers between Salzburg and Munich can switch to the hourly Bavarian regional transport (BRB), ÖBB tickets are accepted.
Some night trains will be affected by the strike action from the night of 22 to 23 January. There will be failures and partial failures.
In freight transport, the strike will begin as early as 23 January and will lead to restrictions. The ÖBB Rail Cargo Group team is currently in coordination with partners and customers in order to minimise the impact on transports.

ÖBB asks all affected travellers to postpone non-essential journeys to Germany or to choose alternative travel options. Up-to-date information is available on oebb.at or by phone on 05 17 170.
The timetable changes will be updated gradually in the ÖBB timetable information SCOTTY. The train connection for tickets to/from Germany has been lifted. Tickets purchased before January 22, 2024 may be cancelled and refunded in the event of no-show. If the journey is started at an earlier or later date, the tickets can be used up to and including 05 February 2024.
Nightjet tickets to/from Germany purchased before 22 January 2024 can also be used in daytime traffic and are also valid from 05 February 2024.
