By 2030, the Ennstal Railway between Bischofshofen and Selzthal will be made barrier-free, and stations will be modernized and partially rebuilt – a major upgrade for passengers. A total of approximately EUR 190 million will be invested in the modernization of the line by 2030. Renovation work at Haus im Ennstal station will begin on March 17. Following the new Hüttau station, this is the second station to be completed along the line.

New P+R area:
The renovation work will be completed by the end of the year, so the modernized station can resume operations with the next timetable change. Passengers will then benefit from barrier-free platforms, a new weather-protected waiting area, modern LED lighting, and contemporary display boards. In parallel, a new P+R facility with space for a total of 25 cars and covered parking areas for 20 bicycles and six motorcycles is being built.
No passenger stops during renovations
In order to carry out the renovations as efficiently and quickly as possible, passenger stops at Haus station must be suspended during the construction work from April 7, 2025, to December 14, 2025. Passengers are asked to use the nearby Aich-Assach and Schladming stations, which will remain open as usual, during this time. In addition, certain work will also take place at night and on weekends in phases. Residents will be informed separately in advance by mail. Notice: From September 8, to October 6, 2025, the railway line between Bischofshofen and Selzthal will be closed for further maintenance work. A corresponding rail replacement service will be set up.
Further measures at a glance:
In addition to the station renovations along the Ennstal Railway, several railway crossings will be closed or redesigned in the coming years, and the conditions for automated operations will be created. To this end, seven electronic interlocking systems (ESTW) will be built and additional Park & ??Ride facilities will be expanded. This will make the railway line not only more convenient and safer, but also more efficient. Finally, the to-do list includes renovations in Pöham, Niedernfritz, Eben im Pongau, Altenmarkt, Radstadt, and Mandling.
