πŸ“‹ Tender Overview

As part of the dynamics called Role change, drivers got on stationary bicycles and faced the passage, a few centimeters away, from buses that were at high speed. The Urban Transportation Authority for Lima and Callao (ATU), an entity attached to the Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MTC), made a sensitization day called change of roles, with the aim of raising awareness of public transport drivers about the importance of responsible management to prevent accidents and deaths on the tracks.

The activity was carried out on Los Fresnos Avenue, in La Molina. Red corridor drivers climbed to stationary bicycles and faced the passage, a few centimeters away, buses of the aforementioned corridor, which moved at high speed. They experienced the aggressive horn and the feeling of vulnerability that cyclists face daily.

It happened very close, I felt fear, I almost fell from the bicycle, were some of the comments expressed by the drivers, who descended from their bicycles with the fear reflected in their faces.

The objective of the ATU is for drivers to become aware of the importance of handling with prudence, prioritizing the pedestrian, the cyclist or the users of lifts, who are more exposed to danger, said Fredy Cespedes, spokesman for the ATU.

So far from 2025, the ATU has made seven days of this type, in which more than 230 drivers of the blue, red and purple runners have participated, as well as the metropolitan.

This action is part of the institutional policy aimed at offering all the residents of Lima and Callao safer environments and a decent and quality public transport service.

As part of this strategy, sustainable control actions of public transport are also developed at strategic points, identified by heat maps, in order to focus interventions more efficiently and contribute to eradicating informality and reduce traffic accidents.
