President Alberto Fernndez presented together with the Minister of Economy Sergio Massa and the Secretary of Energy Flavia Royon the Gas 4 and 5 Energy Sustainability Plan to increase natural gas production substitute imports generate foreign exchange and employment.It is time for us to understand that this is not the project of a government it should be the project of a country. It is time for us to design another productive matrix for Argentina and I am sure that gas is the secret of our future development said the Head of State.In a first stage we have the opportunity to distribute Vaca Muerta gas throughout the country. That is why we are building the gas pipeline which is the first step towards self-sufficiency because we will be able to generate nearly 90 of the demand we have today for gas with our own production said the president adding The second will come later. challenge which is to see how we liquefy this gas to take it beyond our borders.The president stated I am convinced that Argentina has the opportunity to be a central player in the energy production of the future and we should not let it pass. Not for the good of the companies not for the good of a government for the good of the Argentine men and women.Also participating in the act held at the Casa Rosada Bicentennial Museum were the governor of Ro Negro Arabela Carreras the governors of Chubut Mariano Arcioni and of Neuqun Omar Gutirrez the Secretary of Industry and Productive Development Jos Ignacio de Mendiguren the president of ENARSA Agustn Gerez and the head of YPF Pablo Gonzlez as well as business and union representatives from the sector.For his part Minister Massa explained that the Gas Plan 4 and 5 represents until the year 2028 19 billion dollars in savings if we all meet our objectives. In turn the minister explained that the plan will imply in terms of foreign exchange savings 28.9 billion dollars by 2028 and only for next year 4.8 billion dollars.We want Argentines to pay for the cheapest energy in the world understanding that we have some of the most important resources in the world. And that is the decision of the Government as well as the need for the business sector to look at the long term and without speculation emphasized the head of the economic portfolio.Meanwhile Secretary Royon pointed out We hope that our country will have the maximum gas production by 2024 and added We understand that this is one more step to consolidate the Gas Plan as a public policy of the State where we can have a medium-term look.The measure presented today by the national government contemplates the extension of the current plan -which expired in 2024- until 2028 and the bidding of the 21 million m3 per day that would be available for June-July 2023 when the works of the Nstor Kirchner gas pipeline making it possible to cover the greater demand for gas in the domestic market.The benefits of this policy will be the extension of the current scheme to give producers predictability that ENARSA as a generator allows for flexibility in marketing the internalization of productive efficiencies through the improvement of the ceiling price and differential prices by basin compensating for heterogeneity.In addition it proposes improvements in the conditions for granting export priorities encourages investment and provides predictability for the filling of the Nstor Kirchner Gas Pipeline and its future expansions.The gas pipeline and this new launch of the Gas Plan are part of a strategic policy to convert resources into wealth achieve energy sovereignty and a large-scale export path in the face of global energy scarcity.
