📋 Tender Overview
The Regional Government of Arequipa articulated actions with the mayors of the districts of Cayma, Cerro Colorado and Yanahuara to accelerate the installation of a bailey bridge over the El Chullo torrent, replacing the demolished Concordia bridge, with the aim of reestablishing vehicular and pedestrian traffic in this important area of the city.
On behalf of the regional governor, Rohel Sanchez Sanchez, the general manager, Berly Gonzales Arias, held a coordination meeting with the mayors of the three aforementioned districts, with the purpose of establishing joint actions that will allow the installation of this provisional infrastructure to be completed in the shortest possible time.
The metal structure, managed by Provias Nacional of the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Peru, has a weight of 49 tons, a length of 18 meters and a width of 7 meters, which will enable double-track traffic. The bridge is expected to arrive in Arequipa next week, being moved with the support of private companies.
Financing for its installation will be provided by the Regional Government of Arequipa. In this sense, specialists from the Regional Transportation Management have been preparing an emergency IOARR that will be completed next week, which will allow the assembly of the metal structure to begin immediately and restore vehicular flow in the sector affected by the entry of the El Chullo torrent.
During the meeting, the authorities also addressed the need to evaluate technical alternatives that will prevent future emergencies in this torrent, a task that will require the participation and coordination of various State institutions.
The Regional Government reaffirmed its commitment to working in an articulated manner with local authorities to guarantee safety and road connectivity for the benefit of the population.
