π Tender Overview
Angolan citizens residing in Portugal can already process or renew the Identity Card and Criminal Record as of this Monday 8 with the opening of the fixed and permanent post in Lisbon. The information was confirmed on Sunday 7 by the Secretary of State for International Cooperation and Angolan Communities Domingos Custdio Vieira Lopes.Speaking to the press the official guaranteed that all conditions are created for the collection of biometric data for the referred document.Domingos Custdio Vieira Lopes explained that the Consulate in Lisbon will attend by appointment with a daily limit of 30 citizens to comply with biosafety measures. For this purpose he said national citizens residing in Portugal will be able to process the Identity Card provided they present the required documents namely the consular registration photocopies of valid Angolan documents that allow them to verify that they are national citizens. The Secretary of State explained that the process is final. There will no longer be a need for people to travel to Luanda to deal with these documents he stressed. After this phase he added the process will extend to neighboring countries and other African countries where there is a very significant community and then to other regions. It is a job that will be definitive. In the same way as we treat passports we will do it with Identity Cards .Domingos Custdio Vieira Lopes recalled that the opening of the Post initially scheduled for March was postponed due to the outbreak of the new coronavirus. The Secretary of State reaffirmed that the machine has been ready for some time and the tests were carried out in connection with Luanda. Training sessions were held in March for employees working in consular areas. The vice-consul for the Notary Registries Alda Candeia explained that for the BI to be treated for the first time the citizen must have a valid consular registration identification document of one of the parents residence certificate issued by the local authorities full copy of the birth or baptism seat held until May 31 1963.For the secretary general of AMANGOLA in Portugal Carlos Gonalves the process demonstrates the Governments value and recognition of the Angolan diaspora in Portugal.Important stepFor Creusa Fernandes a student residing in Portugal for more than 20 years the measure will make life easier for emigrants in Portugal because many were unable to deal with BI due to the lack of conditions to return to the country to renew or deal with this document. The student considered the process an important step. It is always good to have our valid documentation even if it is outside the national territory because it is our identity and the only document that attests to it is the Identity Card he stressed. For Leonardo Nascimento residing in Portugal for many years this step by the Government will greatly facilitate the lives of Angolans giving them the right to citizenship. It is with great satisfaction that I note the clear reduction of bureaucracy and greater access to the services of the Angolan State he said.
