π Tender Overview
The General Tax Administration (AGT) intends to correct the more than 900 infringements in customs declarations, registered in 2023, which resulted in losses of revenue for the State, as well as additional costs in the process of clearing goods through customs and, consequently, an increase in prices to the detriment of the end consumer.
To this end, the Board of Directors is carrying out a series of visits to port terminals in the province of Luanda, through the "CA Operativo" initiative.
During Monday's visit, followed by Jornal de Angola, the entire process of importing goods was verified, as well as irregularities identified in customs declarations for which both importers and customs agents were responsible.
On the occasion, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Tax Administration (AGT), JosΓ© Leiria, said that it is the responsibility of the entity under his leadership to control the entry, transit and exit of goods from Angola, based on legal procedures, which aim to ensure compliance with legislation and the prevention of tax offences.
The manager, in contact with the agents and operators present, informed that the ultimate objective is to eliminate smuggling risks, guarantee the protection of public health and conformity of the customs system in relation to the goods clearance processes, based on a customs risk management process, applied since May of this year.
According to the Chairman of the Board, JosΓ© Leiria, as required by international best practices in customs inspection, the inspection act must be carried out at designated locations (e.g. port and airport terminals).
At the end of the visit, importers and customs brokers expressed their complete satisfaction with the initiative of the AGT Board of Directors.
For operators, the proximity between the authors of customs processes will result in benefits for the parties and will guarantee revenue for the State, always in line with the authorities' projections.
