📋 Tender Overview
With a population of 12,127 inhabitants and an expanding economic scenario, the municipality of Porto Alegre do Norte, in Mato Grosso (MT) is emerging as a new hub of opportunities in the Araguaia-Xingu region. Driven by the arrival of large projects, such as an ethanol plant and a new refrigerator, the city sees the Desiderio Martin Brunetta Municipal Airport as the fundamental vector for development and generation of jobs and income.
The airport infrastructure gains even more, as the terminal is part of the first phase of the AmpliAR Program. With a planned investment (Capex) of R 24.69 million, the structure is the key piece to unlocking the logistics of one of the most promising regions of Mato Grosso.
Boosting the economy and regional development is a priority for President Lulas government. With the Ampliar Program, we are bringing quality infrastructure to the interior of Brazil. This investment will connect the local productive force, generate jobs and, fundamentally, shorten distances, highlighted the Minister of Ports and Airports, Silvio Costa Filho.
Strategically located between the Araguaia and Tapirape rivers, Porto Alegre do Norte is part of a microregion made up of 14 municipalities. The modernization of the terminal will meet the growing demand of agribusiness, which has a hub for soybean, corn and rice cultivation in the region, as well as a strong dairy basin and vibrant commerce. According to the city council, the concession and the planned investments are expected as a solution to a historical challenge: the logistical dependence on a 120 km stretch of dirt road on the BR-158, which often presents precarious traffic conditions.
Tourism and Operational Capacity In addition to the corporate bias, the infrastructure will support tourism and major events that already drive the local economy. The city hosts Dinamica de Empreendimentos e Empreendedores, the largest business fair in the region that attracts more than 15 thousand people, a period in which the airport and hotel chain reach 100% capacity. Ecological tourism will also benefit, facilitating access to events such as the Varjao Rally and Ecological Canoes.
Mayor Carlos Tomazetto reinforces the transformative impact of the project. This airport represents dignity, development and security for our population and the entire region. We know the difficulties of access via BR-158 and that is why this advance is so important. With this structure in place, we will have more agility to save lives, strengthen tourism, boost our major events and create new business opportunities, he stated.
Incentive to developmentAmpliAR will put 19 regional airports located in the Legal Amazon and the Northeast on public offer, regions where there is a marked deficit in airport infrastructure. Through a simplified competitive process, concessionaires, with concession contracts in force with the Union and which are not in extinction, will be able to compete for airports through the highest percentage discount to the minimum price established by the government in the National Aviation Plan (PAN). The auction for the first phase of the program is scheduled for November 27th.
In the first stage of AmpliAr, the following airports were put on public offer: Tarauaca (AC), Barcelos (AM), Itacoatiara (AM), Parintins (AM), Itaituba (PA), Cacoal (RO), Vilhena (RO), Araguaina (TO), Porto Alegre do Norte (MT), Barreirinhas (MA), Guanambi (BA), Lencois (BA), Paulo Afonso (BA), Sao Raimundo Nonato (PI), Araripina (PE), Garanhuns (PE), Serra Talhada (PE), Jericoacoara (CE) and Canoa Quebrada (CE).
