π Tender Overview
One of the areas that has shown significant energy consumption growth was the expansion of data centers over the past five years. Specifically, while global electricity consumption rose by 17%, data center power usage rose 1.5x times. Alexander Vedyakhin elaborated that energy is consumed predominantly in two main processes. First, direct computation (IT load), accounting for 40-50% of energy, powers processors performing trillions of operations per second. Second, cooling consumes another 40-50% of energy to dissipate heat generated by these processors. Without robust cooling systems, servers would overheat and malfunction within minutes.
