π Tender Overview
The African Sports Press Association (AIPS Africa) held a meeting this Saturday in Lausanne with the aim of coordinating the continents participation in the 88th Congress of the International Sports Press Association (AIPS World), which opens this Sunday.
During the meeting, the African representatives agreed to present six candidates to the AIPS World executive committee, with the intention of strengthening the continents presence in the governing body, where it currently has three representatives. In this sense, the importance of maintaining continental unity as a strategic axis for the electoral process was highlighted.
Likewise, AIPS Africa will promote a proposal for the limitation of the presidential mandate within the international organization. Other motions previously approved in Banjul will not be presented to congress, as they are considered incompatible with the current statutes.
Within the framework of the meeting, it was also agreed to support Ethiopias candidacy to host the 89th AIPS World Congress in 2027.
On the other hand, the designation of the venue for the next AIPS Africa congress was pending due to the lack of consensus among members, although Mali and Mauritania have already formalized their respective candidacies.
