📋 Tender Overview
The adaptation of content from the Brasil Antenado program to indigenous languages resulted in an increase of more than 150% in requests for free installation of digital satellite dishes in Jacareacanga, in the southwest of Para. The initiative of the Government of Brazil, through a partnership between the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) and the Ministry of Communications, distributes and installs free digital satellite dish kits.
The Brasil Antenado Programs mission is to bring open TV and digital inclusion. We recently began translating the entire program into indigenous languages, which made the content more accessible and generated an exponential increase in just four weeks in the supply of satellite TVs in the state of Para, specifically in the municipality of Jacarecanga
The program guarantees access to more than 100 open TV channels with digital sound and image quality, being run by the Band Administrative Entity (EAF). The initiative is aimed at families registered in the Single Registry (CadUnico) who do not have access to open television or any other channel. In addition to distributing equipment, Brasil Antenados mission is to provide information, entertainment, culture and promote inclusion through digital satellite dishes.
LANGUAGE BARRIER -- In Jacareacanga, where 59% of the population declares themselves indigenous, the EAF identified that the language barrier compromised the engagement of families eligible for the benefit. In response, a tutorial video was produced in the Munduruku language, the predominant ethnic group in the municipality. Translations in the region began on November 10, four weeks after advertising began in the local language, requests for the new satellite dish grew by 150%.
According to Anatel advisor, Edson Holanda, the impact of the measure reinforces the social role of the initiative. The Brasil Antenado Programs mission is to bring open TV and digital inclusion. ADAPTATION -- The success recorded during Phase A of the program confirmed that the territorial adaptation of communication is decisive. The strategy is now replicated in other regions, such as in Uiramuta (RR), a municipality with the highest indigenous proportion in the country (95%), where the material was translated into the Macuxi and Ingariko languages. In the municipality, around 2,200 families can request the free kit until March 13, 2026.
PHASES -- Brasil Antenado serves families in locations where the TV signal is non-existent or limited. In total, the program covers 323 municipalities in 16 states, divided into three phases:
