π Tender Overview
The senior prosecutor and national coordinator of the Specialized Environmental Prosecutors Offices (FEMA), Frank Robert Almanza Altamirano, participated as an observer in an interdiction operation against illegal mining carried out in the Aguaytia River, within the jurisdiction of the Curimana district, Padre Abad province, Ucayali department.
The intervention, led by provincial prosecutor Jose Luis Guzman Ferro, achieved the destruction of five artisanal small dredger-type rafts, as well as equipment, tools, engines, pumping systems, compressors, electrical wiring, fuel, camping implements and other materials used in illegal mining activities.
These measures were adopted in accordance with the provisions of Legislative Decree No. 1100, aimed at interdicting illegal mining and protecting the countrys natural resources. Members of the Peruvian Navy, personnel from the Puerto Inca River Control Unit and the Zorrillos Territorial Control Base, among other forestry authorities, participated in this intervention.
The background of the diligence was a reconnaissance overflight carried out on June 10, during which vessels used for illegal gold extraction activities in the Aguaytia River bed were identified.
The participation of the FEMA coordinator made it possible to accompany and supervise the actions developed in the field, reaffirming the commitment to strengthening interventions against illegal mining and the articulation of efforts between the different State institutions for the defense of the environment and the conservation of the Peruvian Amazon.
