lot-0000, title: renewal of the railway power control system, description: bls operates a railway power control system that monitors and remotely controls the entire railway power network. the bls railway power network includes the 15 kv/16.7 hz network for supplying electric trains in rail traffic as well as the 16 kv/50 hz network for energy supply in the lötschberg base tunnel (lbt). in addition, the bls railway power control system also monitors and controls facilities of the sbb railway power network. in the railway power switching stations, decentralized controls capture measurement values, switching states, and events and transmit them via the control levels to the central network control center in spiez. in the opposite direction, control commands are sent by the operators to the switching stations. the network control system in spiez thus serves as a central instrument for the operation of the bls railway power network as well as the sbb in the aare valley and upper valais. the hardware of the network control system is located in the operations center in spiez, and a redundant system is located separately in the switching station in spiez. the facilities are monitored and remotely controlled by operators from three control positions around the clock. the current power5 system from siemens was procured in 2012, underwent a replacement of hardware and software in 2019, and will reach the end of its technical service life in 2027.
